As guitarist and vocalist for the group, Tom has been a fixture on the folk music scene since the 1960s playing various genres and venues across the US. Upon arriving in San Antonio, he teamed up with former SJG member, Jim Fox, playing folk music before focusing specifically on Irish Traditional music. After a fortuitous encounter with a flute playing priest, Tom and company worked hard to reproduce the rhythm that is at the center of the music. His finger-picking style gives The Gate it’s unique sound.

Mark is one of America’s most renowned players of the bodhrán and has performed and taught with many of today's top Irish musicians across the United States and in Canada. Mark began his professional music career at the age of fifteen playing keyboards in local dance bands and doing studio work. He later focused his attention solely on Irish music playing ceili piano. His knowledge of chord movement and structure has been transferred to the bodhrán, resulting in a unique blend of rhythm and tones.
His flute playing began at the age of 12. Erik was Classically trained and over the years has spent time with several classical flute choirs and ecclesiastical groups. But 1998 marked a turning point in his music after his father purchased a whistle for Erik. That whistle was the first of what is now a collection of whistles and flutes from around the world and led to a love for Irish traditional music. It also paved the way for the creation of Tully Flutes and Whistles, Erik’s own brand of silver Irish whistles and traditional Irish Flutes.
